3 Things Every Brand Video Needs!
In a recent interview with Variety, marketing experts noted that the average attention span for digital video has dropped to roughly 2.5 seconds. If you don’t give the viewer a reason to stay in those first few ticks of the clock, they’re gone.
Whether you’re creating a 15-second Reel or a 3-minute corporate documentary, these three elements are non-negotiable:
1. A Relatable Conflict (The “Hook”)
Every great story needs a problem to solve. If your video starts with “We were founded in 1998,” people will scroll. If it starts with, “We know how frustrating it is when [Problem],” you’ve caught their attention. You aren’t selling a product; you’re selling a solution to a specific pain point.
2. A Consistent Visual Language
Your video should look like “you.” This means:
- Color Palette: Using tones that align with your brand identity.
- Pacing: Is your brand high-energy and fast-paced, or calm and premium? The “rhythm” of your edits should reflect that.
3. A Singular, Clear Call to Action (CTA)
The biggest mistake brands make is asking the viewer to do too much. “Like, subscribe, visit our site, and buy our product!” is a recipe for doing nothing.
- Pick one goal: Do you want them to visit a landing page? Sign up for a newsletter? Or simply remember your name? Tell them exactly what to do next.
